Owned by Dominion Resources, Lake Gaston was
impounded in 1963 to provide Hydroelectric power to
the surrounding area. Gaston comprises 20,000
acres, 34 miles long and over a mile wide at it's
longest point.
Gaston is bordered by Kerr Lake upstream, and Roanoke Rapids Lake downstream. The water level at Gaston rarely fluctuates from it's 199 ft above sea level.
